日本無罪〜パール判事Tシャツの発表、そのイラストレーション制作の動機や「日本無罪論」のご紹介、それにあらためてパール判決書について考察したことなどのまとめページをつくっています。リメンバー・パール判事 - remember justice radhabinod Pal - 「リメンバー・パール判事」というタイトルは、特に耳新しいわけでもない駄洒落ではあるけれど、なかなか言い得て妙なフレーズだと思いますが、ぼくの中ではもうちょっと伏線があったのです。 2005年の12月8日、ぼくはmixiの日記に次のような覚え書きを記していました。 ジョン・レノンが凶弾に倒れた祥月命日と日米開戦の記念日が同じ日付であることには、もとより何の意味もありません。 けれど、あえてこじつけるならば、こんな構図が浮かび上がってきます。 それは、20世紀において、わが日本軍による真珠湾への奇襲攻撃と、ビートルズにはじまるブリティッシュ・インヴェイジョンと、「アメリカ」は二度にわたって不意打ちを受けている、ということです。 国際テロ組織アルカイダによるスイサイド・アタックにはじまった今世紀の世界の行方を思うとき、ちょっとそんなことを思い出してみましょう。 戦い敗れた日本国は対米従属の忠犬ポチ公のような体たらくになってしまい、名誉白人のような貌をしているけれど、あの大東亜戦争が有色人種非キリスト教徒を目覚めさせた自主独立の気運は消え去ることがありませんでした。 是非はともかくイスラム世界の動向もその文脈と無関係ではありえません。 一方、ビートルズの影響下に隆盛をきわめたポップ・ミュージックは、冷戦期には西側の享楽文化の代表と目され、合衆国を中心とする消費社会の象徴となってしまいましたが、果たしてそのカウンター・カルチャーとしての属性は、もう一度世界を揺るがすことがありうるのでしょうか？ remember Pearl Harbor and also remember Liverpool sounds. ここでぼくは、12月8日という日がジョン・レノンの命日であるとともに大東亜戦争の開戦記念日でもあったこととあわせて、ぼくにとって特別なレコードである「ジョンの魂」に収録された「リメンバー」という曲名と、ビートルズを代表とする60年代ブリティッシュ・ビートを回想する「リメンバー・リバプール・サウンズ」というキャッチフレーズと、合衆国の慣用句となってしまった「リメンバー・パールハーバー」をかけて、さらには高村光太郎の詩「記憶せよ、十二月八日」もイメージして、日記のタイトルを「リメンバー 1208」としておきました。 高村光太郎の詩とは、次のようなものです。 記憶せよ、12月8日。 この日世界の歴史改まる。 アングロサクソンの主権、 この日東亜の陸と海とに否定さる。 否定するものは彼らのジャパン、 眇（びょう）たる東海の国にして また神の国たる日本なり。 そを治（しろ）しめたまふ明津御神（あきつみかみ）なり。 世界の富を壟断（ろうだん）するもの、強豪米英一族の力、我らの国に於いて否定さる。 我らの否定は義による。 東亜を東亜にかへせといふのみ。 彼らの搾取に隣邦ことごとく痩せたり。 われらまさにその爪牙（そうが）を砕かんとす。 われら自ら力を養ひてひとたび起つ。 老若男女みな兵なり。 大敵非をさとるに至るまでわれらは戦ふ。 世界の歴史を両断する。 12月8日を記憶せよ。 「道程」や「智恵子抄」と同じ作者の渾身の思いを込めた名作でありながら、学校教育では決して教わらないであろうこの詩にこめられた、人種差別に深く根ざした欧米の植民地主義へのカウンターとしての開戦という大義を、敗戦直後という時期にあって冷静に国際法の真理に即して肯定した唯一のジャッジメントこそが、「パール判事の日本無罪論」だったのです。 それで、ぼくも「リメンバー」というメッセージを込めて、もう一度「忘れたことと忘れさせられたこと」への想像力を取り戻すために、今回の絵を描きました。 この先も思いつくままにコンテンツを増やしていきたいと思っていますので、ぜひチェックしてみてください。リメンバー・パール判事 - remember justice radhabinod Pal -
